Head Cook/Cafeteria Manager
Job Title: Head Cook / Cafeteria Manager (Lunch Program)
Location: St. Francis Cafeteria – Serving St. Francis Elementary and Archangels Catholic High School, Nebraska
Reports To:
Principal / Administrator
Position Summary
The Head Cook/Cafeteria Manager oversees the daily lunch program operated out of the St. Francis Cafeteria, which serves students from both St. Francis Elementary and Archangels Catholic High School (ACHS).
This position is responsible for meal preparation, kitchen operations, food safety, and leadership of cafeteria staff, ensuring lunch service runs smoothly within a rolling schedule. The Head Cook supports the mission of the Catholic school community by providing nutritious meals in a welcoming and faith-filled environment.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve daily lunch for students from both school communities
- Ensure meals are nutritious, appealing, and appropriate for both elementary and high school students
- Coordinate lunch service with a rolling schedule to support efficient meal flow
- Accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs when required
Cafeteria & Kitchen Operations
- Manage day-to-day kitchen workflow, food prep schedules, and service routines
- Order food, supplies, and kitchen materials while maintaining budget awareness
- Maintain inventory, proper storage, and organization of all kitchen products
- Assist with menu planning in accordance with school nutrition guidelines
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow HACCP-based food safety procedures, including temperature monitoring and safe food handling
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, and equipment
- Ensure compliance with Nebraska health department regulations and school safety policies
- Participate in inspections and required training/certifications
Staff Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and train cafeteria staff and volunteers (if applicable)
- Promote teamwork and a positive working environment
- Coordinate responsibilities to ensure smooth meal preparation and service
Catholic School Mission & Community
- Support the Catholic identity and values of St. Francis and ACHS
- Foster a welcoming cafeteria environment rooted in kindness and respect
- Interact with students in a patient, caring, and professional manner
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in food preparation or kitchen management
- Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling practices
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds
Preferred
- Experience in a school cafeteria or institutional food service
- ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
Work Schedule
This position follows the school calendar, Monday–Friday, during lunch preparation and service hours. Summers off or limited summer responsibilities depending on program needs.
Compensation & Benefits

Student Support and Academic Specialist
St. Francis Elementary School is seeking a compassionate and student-centered educator for the 2026–2027 school year. The individual will support the academic, social–emotional, and personal growth of all students and collaborate closely with staff and families to promote a positive and faith-filled school climate. This individual will work closely with classroom teachers coordinating support activities, managing student performance data, and handing functions related to curriculum and student academic progress.
Responsibilities
- Provide short-term individual and small-group counseling to students
- Support students with social skills, problem solving, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation
- Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons (e.g., friendship, bullying prevention, goal setting, decision making)
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs
- Help coordinate Student Assistance / MTSS / intervention supports as appropriate
- Promote a positive school culture aligned with the mission and values of St. Francis Elementary School
- Use student and class data to track performance
- Assist with the coordination and interpretation of various student assessments to inform instructional decisions
- Prepare academic reports
- Assist with crisis response and provide support during challenging situations
Qualifications
- This position may be filled at different qualification levels, depending on the background, credentials, and experience of the selected candidate. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, licensure, and experience:
- Certified Teacher
- School Counselor / Guidance Counselor
- Principal / Administrator
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in a resource or academic role.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to partner with teachers, parents, and administrators to solve complex student needs.
- A high degree of professionalism, including the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and healthy boundaries within the school community.
- A deep commitment to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and socio-emotional well-being of every student in alignment with our school’s mission.
- Strong organizational skills and the leadership capacity to manage student support plans and academic interventions effectively.
